Buy HedgeTrader - Automated NQ/ES Spread Trader NT8

I think Luci already stated, that this strategy needs some adjustments to work.
There are no variables in the strategy, but it is hard-coded into the cs-file.
I have not fully gotten through this strategy, but as far as I have worked out you need to to the following steps:

• Copy the hedgetrader.cs into your NT-strategies-folder
• copy the spread...-file into the indicator-folder
• edit both (!) files using an c#-editor (the build-in ninjascript-editor from NT8 will work out as well)
• change the instrument strings to the current future: NQ 06-23 and ES 06-23
• backtest does not work, so you need to keep the strategy running on an open chart
• further adjustments can be done to improve the strategy.
  (I havent tested it yet)

 

I am finishing the programming of a personal strategy and I do not have much time

I don't mind sharing parameters, opinions and the changes I make in the code but I have not participated in this purchase and I do not have access to the delivery department

For now I have limited myself to testing the strategy to understand how it works, in the next few days I will modify the code to make it more comfortable to adapt the parameters without having to edit the code.

Then I will start the tests looking for the best result (if there is one...)

 

Appreciate it if you could share ,. For a non-programmer like me, it would be very helpful. I'm sure we all know that there might not be optimum results but at least whatever we could extract out of this strategy.

 

Second day of working on it today and I can't find any profitable settings. Backtesting in replay mode is very slow and painful.

Any ideas how to convert it to a backtestable strategy? I'm a coder but I'm new to NinjaTrader and I don't understand yet why it can't be normally backtested

 

Probably because it uses two assets. You should be able to test them on separate charts but referencing the other asset in the algorithm. Then look at the backtest for each chart and combine the two. I know that sort of thing could be done on MT4.

 

Does it come with source code?
